"The Defenders."

I can't believe Marvel greenlighted this script! I tried to start watching it, ended up fast-forwarding through all eight episodes in a couple of hours. To be clear, I haven't watched Iron Fist or Luke Cage, lasted about half of Jones before losing interest. Everyone says this is marginally better than Iron Fist - which makes that series sound monumentally awful.

Daredevil still stands out, simply because he bleeds. Superpowers are becoming dull. Jessica tosses a dumpster, and it doesn't even register anymore. Luke stands in front of a hail of bullets, and it doesn't register either. Iron Fist fights and puts me to sleep. It's like Marvel chose to round up Mr Ed, Frances the Talking Mule, Lassie and Rin-Tin-Tin into a Chinese restaurant to strategize how to take down Purina ... for eight painful episodes. "Can't you do anything other than bark? I'm outta here ..."

Individually, most are powerful characters. Put them together, all they show is each other's monumental flaws. Weaknesses that we hadn't noticed in their individual series. The tropes are getting to me.

If you're heavily invested, I would skip this series. The attempt to legitimize Iron Fist threatens "suspension of disbelief" for all.

IMHO.

[Marvel, I would have morphed this into a Steinbeckian Lennie + George roadtrip between Daredevil and Elektra, with the others in pursuit ... Daredevil having to terminate Elektra by his own hand at the end after too many freelance depredations.]
