Video editing notes, continuing storage info ...

I think I’ve mentioned here that I’m all in on DaVinci Resolve (buy it if you like it, don’t just rely on the free version), over FCPX or Premiere. Adobe continues to roll out what should be termed ‘beta’ software as releases on Creative Cloud, constantly busting my older edits, and FCPX is just a nightmare for file management (‘show package contents’, etc.). DVR leaves it all out in the open, and their ethic of how to edit pleases me much more than the others.

Also, as I’m working on getting my certifications, I was curious about speeds of RAID 0 vs. SSD. SSD is the clear winner … it’s the access time that beats RAID silly. I’m in the process of shuffling some drives around - SSD seems the clear choice for both archival backup AND online fast storage. I’ll free up one 4TB for immediate edit projects, and save one for drop-dead important backups. And buy more!

Later: Ever hear the term, “Mind like a lumber-room; thing wanted, always buried”? I’m looking for my Shoulderpod (hand-mount for iPhone) … can’t find the damned thing. Looked in all my camera bags. It’s here somewhere. I’ll probably tear my office to shreds to find it, but I WILL find it.
